Pharrell Williams had a remarkable year in fashion in 2024, leading to his well-deserved recognition as Designer of the Year by GQ Magazine. The magazine recently unveiled their annual Men of the Year selections, with the editorial team honoring Skateboard P as the top creative force in the style industry. In a visually stunning photoshoot captured by Eli Russell Linnetz, Pharrell effortlessly combines pieces from various Louis Vuitton collections with vintage items, showcasing a range of styles from western to military to runway-ready looks.
Aside from his sartorial achievements, Pharrell also shared insights into his creative process in an interview with GQ‘s Global Editorial Director Will Welch. Revealing that he was simultaneously working on three music projects, each with its dedicated engineer, Pharrell emphasized his preference for multiple creative spaces. He explained, “I had three different rooms for three different artists. That’s the way I like to cook. I like to go from room to room, because one room reminds me that the other room isn’t as hot as I thought it was before I left. Having different rooms going makes you zoom out. Because you zoom in to make it, but then you zoom out to judge whether it’s fire.”
During the interview, Pharrell also touched on his Joopiter platform, where he auctioned off his signature pieces, including jewelry purchased by Drake. When asked about Drake’s acquisitions, Pharrell’s response highlighted his philosophical approach to art and detachment. He stated, “I guess some things are not for me to understand. When you let things go, a huge part of it is actually letting go. Not just of the physical item, but letting go of your connection to what it’s supposed to mean, or the memory. You’re literally letting them go. That was the purpose.”
