Capcom recently held a spotlight presentation where they made several exciting announcements. One of the highlights was the confirmation of a remake of Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny, which is currently in development. The original game was released for the PlayStation 2 in 2002 and quickly became a fan favorite due to its engaging gameplay and intricate storyline.
The enhanced version of Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny will be available on multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam in 2025. In addition to the remake of the second installment, the first game in the series, Onimusha, has also been remastered and is currently on sale for $9.99 in digital stores.
Producer Akihito Kadowaki and director Satoru Nihei provided more details on the upcoming title, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, during the presentation. Set in feudal Japan, the game will explore historical landmarks in Kyoto, including the iconic Kiyomizu-Dera Temple. Players will once again face off against the demonic Genma with a new protagonist wielding the powerful Oni Gauntlet. Onimusha: Way of the Sword is set to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in 2026.
Aside from the Onimusha series, Capcom also unveiled other exciting titles, including Okami 2, Capcom Fighting Collection 2, and MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics for Xbox consoles. Fans can check out all the trailers for these upcoming games in the gallery below.
