Donald Glover will be making his debut to Saturday Night Live in a big way! It was announced that the award-winning actor will not only perform but serve as host for the May 5th episode!
According to Billboard, the big news was announced during the John Mulaney-hosted episode. It is reported that Glover will bring his talents to the sketch-side of the late night show while his alter ego, Childish Gambino, will hit the stage as the musical guest. Glover will be joining a short list of celebrities who appeared on SNL as a host and musical guest. The list includes Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Drake, Blake Shelton, Ariana Grande, and Britney Spears.

As we know, Donald Glover is no stranger to the small screen. Early in his career, Glover got his start writing for the award-winning comedy 30 Rock and starred in the cult favorite Community as Troy Barnes. Recently, Glover showcased his talents as a writer and actor in FX’s Atlanta. The hit series, which stars Lakeith Stanfield, Zazie Beetz and Brian Tyree Henry, earned a Golden Globe for Best Television Series and earned Glover two Emmy’s for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.
As for music, Childish Gambino’s (Glover) most recent album “Awaken, My Love!” earned him a slew of award nominations including a Grammy for Album of the Year and Best Urban Contemporary Album. Earlier this year, Gambino announced a tour with Rae Sremmurd that will kick off in Atlanta in September. After Atlanta, the tour will continue to Chicago, Toronto, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Houston, Dallas, Inglewood, CA, Oakland, CA, Seattle and Vancouver, BC, CA.
