Looks like Tiffany Haddish is making history once again! It has been reported that the Girls Trip actress will be hosting the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards – making her the first black woman to do so!
On Thursday (February 22), MTV announced that the best-selling author of The Last Black Unicorn will host the summer award show following previous host including Adam Devine, Kevin Hart and Dwyane Johnson, and Amy Schumer – who was the last female host. Not long after it was announced, Haddish took to Instagram to confirm the exciting news. “It’s going to be off the chain, cus you know why?” the comedian said in the video. “I’m hosting! And you know what that means – it’s going to be hilarious.”
“Tiffany Haddish is quickly establishing herself as one of the most sought-after actresses and comedic talents in television and film,” MTV said per Deadline. Last year was a big year for Haddish and we can all agree that the she has been on fire lately! Along with starring in the 2017 blockbuster Girls Trip, Haddish is set to star opposite Tracy Morgan in the TBS sitcom The Last OG and appear alongside Kevin Hart in the forthcoming comedy, Night School – coming to theaters later this year. She also became the face of Groupon which led her to appear in the company’s 2018 Super Bowl commercial.
The MTV Movie & TV Awards will air on Monday, June 18 at 9 p.m EST. The list of this year’s nominees will be announced at a later date.
