Kardashian has been very vocal about her issues with carrying another child. During her pregnancy with North, Kardashian suffered from preeclampsia, a condition characterized by high blood pressure, swelling, and a restriction of blood flow, as well as placenta accreta, a condition in which the placenta remains attached to the uterus rather than coming out after giving birth.

After undergoing surgery, she was able to conceive Saint but suffered from placenta accreta. In 2017, Kardashian underwent surgery to help carry a third child. “Having more kids is definitely going to be a struggle. I’ve gone through so much with really bad deliveries that the doctors don’t feel like it’s safe for me to conceive again myself,” Kardashian said. “This surgery is really the one last thing I can try.” Although the surgery was not successful, the Wests did not give up and decided to go with a surrogate.

Congrats Kim and Kanye!
