Get ready guys, Nick Cannon and Chris Brown are joining forces for a new indie film!
As Variety reports, Cannon is writing, directing, producing, and starring in film about women’s street basketball, “She Ball.” Along with Cannon, Chris Brown will star in the film with Evan Ross, Cedric the Entertainer, Marla Gibbs, Faizon Love, Rebecca De Mornay and more! The film will feature real-life players from the WNBA, Basketball Beauties League, and Ball Up to bring authenticity to the forthcoming project. Some stars include, Jaliyah Manuel, Melody Rae Kandil, and former Harlem Globetrotter Tammy Brawner.
She Ball will follow Avery Watts (Cannon), who enlists a team of the baddest women in streetball to help him save the embattled Inglewood Community Center, while he manages raising his daughter. According to Variety, Cannon is set to produce the film with Demetrius Spencer of One Media Worldwide and Ball Up.
“I’m very excited for this film. It’s something powerful for the culture, uplifting for the community, and the film’s main objective is to empower women! It’s going to be incredible!” Cannon said.
“Basketball has always been a huge part of my life since I was kid,” Spencer said per Variety. “I always wanted to do a movie about the sport that had a feel of the classic urban films I grew up watching. Seeing the love of the game through women’s basketball, the power and incredible strength they deliver on and off the court, makes the movie even more special.”
Although She Ball does not have a release date, it has been reported that production has already begun.
