Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to Receive Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

This is a big year for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson! The professional wrestler-turned-actor has appeared in several successful films making him Hollywood royalty and a household name. Now, Johnson will finally be getting his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

According to Variety, Johnson will be honored on December 13th in the motion picture category for his status as a global box-office powerhouse. “Not only does Dwayne have a great personality and talent, but he also does a great amount of philanthropic work which is part of the criteria for earning an immortal spot on the Walk of Fame,” said producer of Walk of Fame Ceremonies Ana Martinez. “We envision scores of photos being taken at his star by his fans.”

Not long after the announcement, Johnson took to Twitter to confirm the exciting news. “A true true honor. What a full circle journey.” He wrote. “So grateful and so many people to thank. See everyone there! Tequila on me.”

In 2017, Johnson starred in several films including “Baywatch,” “The Fate of the Furious,” and Sony’s “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” alongside comedian Kevin Hart and Jack Black. Next year, the “Moana” star will appear in “Rampage,” “Skyscraper,” and Disney’s “Jungle Cruise,” which is said to be based on a theme park ride. As Variety reports, in 2019 Johnson will also be starring with Jason Statham in a “Fast and Furious” spinoff film based on his character Hobbs.
