Billboard to Honor Solange with the Inaugural 2017 Impact Award

Solange will be receiving a major honor from Billboard at this year’s Women in Music.

It has been confirmed that the songstress will be honored with the 2017 Impact Award. The “Don’t Touch My Hair” singer will receive the award during the Billboard Women in Music Awards ceremony on Thursday (November 30). Being the first recipient of the award, Solange is being acknowledged for her groundbreaking album A Seat At the Table, which stimulated social change and impacted music. “The Billboard Women in Music event was created to spotlight female trailblazers in the music industry,” said Dana Miller, Chief Marketing Officer, The Hollywood Reporter – Billboard Media Group. “Whether entertaining sold-out crowds or signing the next big artist, the women we celebrate are powerful leaders and pioneers, creating inspirational legacies and opening doors.”

According to Billboard, The American Express Impact Award honors women who “uses her voice to empower and develop new leaders of tomorrow through their on-air persona, platform, and philanthropic efforts to inspire social change across the masses.” The 31-year-old creative fits the category perfectly and is the prime example that through her hard work. As noted, Solange’s album debuted at No.1 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart, iTunes Overall Top Album Charts, and Apple Music – she also received numerous awards, including a Grammy for Best R&B Performance, the BET Centric Award, Glamour Award for The Artist and many more! Solo is also the founder of Saint Heron, her independent record label.
