Nicki Minaj and Jessie Williams Spread Holiday Cheer in New H&M Campaign Film
After weeks teasing clips from the latest H&M Holiday campaign, the official video is finally here and its full of magic, fairies and plenty of holiday cheer! Filmed in Scotland, Nicki Minaj and Jessie Williams star in the enchanting visual while wearing very festive outfits from H&M.
The rap superstar and actor play parents to a young girl who is told a touching bedtime story from William’s imagination. The actor makes up a magical tale about a young girl who embarks on a mission to find the evil brother of Father Christmas, played by John Turturro, and teach him how to be kind. As the girl unsuccessfully attempts to get help from a gang of fairies sporting leather jackets, she meets Minaj’s second character, the “Wisest Thingy.” With no help from Minaj –the unnamed daughter then comes across the “Fastest Fairy,” played by Williams, with hopes to find the evil brother’s location. The heroine turns to the internet to discover the hidden lair and completes her mission by spreading love and holiday cheer!
Filmed by director Johan Renck and photographer Tim Walker, the three-minute ad shows the actors sporting festive pieces from H&M’s “A Magical Holiday” collection, including sparkling accessories, cozy knits, and dresses that glisten for the ultimate holiday look.
“I love the film’s overall empowering message. I love seeing this young girl become the champion that lives in all of us,” Minaj said in a statement. “There’s always magic in the air during the holidays,”
“I’m a parent of a brilliant, imaginative daughter and story time is one of our favorite things!” Williams said to Billboard. “I make sure we tell stories with empowered female roles, and that’s what attracted me to this H&M campaign,”
In true holiday spirit, the H&M Foundation will make a donation to UNICEF to “give children the best start in life.”
