JAY-Z’s ‘4:44’ Tour Will Be the Highest Grossing Tour of His Rap Career

Although there has been speculation that JAY-Z’s current 4:44 tour is in soft demand, it has been reported that the $6 tickets available on StubHub aren’t a reflection of what the tour is grossing. In reality, the low prices seen on StubHub are an indication that JAY-Z has successfully priced ticket scalpers out of the game by charging market rates for the best seats in the house – Billboard reports.

JAY-Z is actually well on his way to having the most successful tour of his decades-spanning career.

Despite only being a few dates in, according to Billboard and Live Nation, JAY-Z’s 4:44 Tour is the highest-grossing solo tour of the hip-hop icon’s career. Sales are up by 21%, compared to his Magna Carter Tour back in 2013. “This tour will be the biggest headlining tour of JAY’s career,” Omar Al-Joulani, VP of touring at Live Nation said.

JAY-Z is believed to be grossing as much as “seven figures per night” and the October 27 the “Holy Grail” rapper just played at Honda Center in Anaheim, California had the rapper/business mogul earning close to 49% more than a show he played during the same date at the same venue years prior.

Per Al-Joulani, the secret to JAY’s 4:44 Tour success is believed to be the result of VIP experiences, front-row seats available at high prices, and the availability of platinum tickets that also allows for more affordable seats in the venue. “This might be the future of ticketing,” Patrick Ryan of Eventellect told Billboard. “We are seeing many creative pricing strategies and we are seeing artists find what works for them. You generate a ton of revenue up front, but you still have a $25 price point that makes it more affordable for individuals who want to see an arena show.”

In other JAY-Z news, it was announced last month that Hov is adding yet another accolade to his series of accomplishments. This time around, JAY will receive the Salute to Industry Icons Award at the 2018 Grammy Awards.
