Miguel Announces Album Release Date and Drops Visual for Second Single “Told You So”

Following his successful return to the music scene with the infectious trap-esque sounds of “Sky Walker,” Miguel is giving music listeners another dose of what’s in store from his upcoming album, War & Leisure.

The R&B singer has given fans a taste of the eclecticism we have come to associate with Miguel and the chaos and ease that comes with the themes he plans to play on in this collective effort. He released a slew of singles following “Sky Walker,” including, “Shockandawe” and “Come Through and Chill.” For what’s looking like a Miguel Christmas, the Kaleidoscope Dream artist announced that fans could expect the release of his fourth studio album to take place on December 1.

To accompany previously released singles, the newly dropped single “Told You So” is paving the way for some more of that famous Miguel sound. The electric feel, interlaced within the airy falsettos and gritty runs, is reminiscent of the late Prince, who the crooner no doubt molds a lot of his sound from. While showing off his dance moves in the desert, the “Adorn” singer promises “not to control” his lover.

In the visual, in between Miguel’s dancing and carefree antics, it seems like the world is literally ending with chaos shown through the use of clips that impart different disasters and political symbols. “War & Leisure has political undertones, because that’s what life feels like right now,” he said in a recent interview with Billboard.

“This album is intentionally about the ethos right now, that we are right in the middle of all this,” he added. “We’re trying to flourish in the middle of all this. We all wake up, and it’s time to be creative and amazing and positive and all the things that we’re supposed to be when you look on Instagram, but then we’re dealing with these same problems, this injustice, wars between politicians with egos. Like, 140 characters are going to get us into a war right now?”
