JAY-Z to Receive Grammy Salute to Industry Icon Award

Another day, another accolade for JAY-Z. This time around, the music mogul will be recognized at the 2018 Pre-Grammy Gala where he will receive the Grammy Salute to Industry Icons Award.

According to Billboard, the event will take place at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel the night before the 60th annual Grammy Awards. The 21-time Grammy winner and Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee is being recognized for his achievements, both in music and in business. The “Family Feuds” rapper will be joining the likes of Berry Gordy, Debra L. Lee, Richard Branson, and L.A. Reid.

“We are absolutely thrilled and delighted to honor JAY-Z with this year’s GRAMMY Salute to Industry Icons Award. His contributions as an industry trailblazer and music visionary only begin to touch on the tremendous impact he’s made both in entertainment and beyond,” Neil Portnow, President/CEO of the Recording Academy said in a statement. “JAY-Z also embodies the vibrant spirit of New York City and we couldn’t imagine a more fitting honoree as we return to Manhattan for this year’s GRAMMY Awards.”

Co-host of the Pre-Grammy Gala and acclaimed record producer, Clive Davis, also shared his sentiments about the Brooklyn rapper. “JAY-Z is a quintessential icon and I couldn’t be happier and more excited to share the evening with him,” Davis said. “What a night this will be!”

Since he first came on the scene in 1995, JAY-Z has seen many successes, whether it be through his music or his many business ventures. Recently, Hova is currently on tour promoting his 13th studio album 4:44. Earlier this month, Jay-Z also performed at his own TIDAL X BROOKLYN benefit concert, along with DJ Khaled, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Remy Ma, Cardi B, Chris Brown, and more! This year’s concert stood out from the rest because all of the funds raised will go to those affected by hurricane Harvey, Irma, and Maria.
