Kendrick Lamar Among the Top Nominated at the American Music Awards
The nominees for the 45th Annual American Music Awards have been announced and rappers Kendrick Lamar and Drake are among the artists leading the pack with the amount of nominations awarded.
On Thursday morning (Oct. 12), R&B songstress Ciara made an appearance on Good Morning America to announce nominees for six categories, but the full list of nominees can be read below. Some notable categories include the Artist of the Year award, which will have the “HUMBLE.” rapper and the More Life artist battling out for who deserves it more. They are also competing for the title in the categories of Favorite Album (Rap/Hip-Hop) and Favorite Song (Rap/Hip-Hop).
The Toronto native is also in the running for winning the award for Favorite Album (Pop/Rock) and Favorite Male Artist (Pop/Rock), while the Compton native has received a nod in the category of Collaboration of the Year due to his feature on the Maroon 5 hit “Don’t Wanna Know.”
Other noteworthy hopefuls who might walk home with an award for their contributions to music include Childish Gambino for Favorite Artist (Soul/R&B), Rae Sremmurd for New Artist of the Year, and Migos for Favorite Artist (Rap/Hip-Hop).
