Just in case you were wondering what Future has been up to, the rapper is still enjoying the fruits of his hard work into wealth and fame. His latest venture is a commercial spot with legendary pop icon Cher, all for the love of Gap. In the sneak peek of Gap’s newest ad, the Atlanta rapper accompanies Cher as a part of Gap’s fall campaign, titled “Meet Me In The Gap.”
In the video, Cher and Future are sitting on some steps that are very reminiscent to the visuals for Drake’s “Hotline Bling” and Big Sean’s “Blessings.” (Fun fact: Director X directed the commercial.) However, in true Gap fashion, the setting that they are sitting within is all white, which by comparison makes their Gap looks stand out. Cher belts out a brief cover of “Everyday People” by Sly and the Family Stone.
Surprisingly providing backing vocals for the singer’s rendition of “Everyday People” is the “Mask Off” MC. He does so in his signature Auto-Tune doused vocals. It makes for an interesting cover of the 1969 classic and is perhaps the nod to the past while being a wink to the future that the ad is going for.
The 33-year-old spoke exclusively to People about the Gap brand. “It’s a part of my DNA, growing up wearing Gap and now to see my son wearing it and in a campaign ties the whole family together. They have something for every age, every person in a family.”
He also talked more about his son Future Zahir, who recently landed his first modeling gig with Gap Kids and noted that he planned to save the jacket he wore in the campaign for his son to grow into and wear one day. “With both of us being in campaigns for Gap, I think it would be cool to pass down that piece of memory to him,” he said. “Coming into this, I wanted to have as much fun as he did.”
