Insecure star Yvonne Orji is set to make her film debut in the upcoming film Night School alongside Kevin Hart and Girls Trip star Tiffany Haddish – Vibe reports.
According to IMDB, the film follows a group of troublemakers who are forced to attend night school in hopes that they will pass the GED exam to finish high school. Directed by Malcolm D. Lee (The Best Man, Undercover Brother, The Best Man Holiday), the film will be produced by Will Packer (Straight Outta Compton, Ride Along, Think Like a Man) and Kevin Hart’s production company – Hartbeat Productions. Hart, who is reported to be the creator of the original story, will be one of the writers for the forthcoming film alongside, Harry Ratchford, Joey Wells, Matt Kellard, and Nick Stoller.
Although this will be the first feature film for the Nigerian-born actress, Orji is also the creator, writer, and star of First Generation – an upcoming film executive produced by Oprah Winfrey and David Oyelowo. Orji will star as Joanna, a first generation Nigerian-American, who has a career in medicine but leaves to pursue a career in stand-up comedy. Along with Orji, Haddish has seen much success in 2017, the comedian turned actress starred in this year’s hottest film Girls Trip with Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Regina Hall. The acclaimed film grossed over $100 million and set box office records.
Orji shared the exciting news via Instagram, “I declared 2017 was gonna be the year of the “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop,” and we ain’t stopped yet!” the actress wrote.
