Yesterday was not a major holiday for the reasons you might think. Yes, Monday, September 4 is when the US celebrates Labor Day, but it is also cause to celebrate their birth of yet another world wonder, and her name is Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter. It was Bey Day and the Queen Bee herself turned 36.
With the release of what is arguably collectively her best work with last year’s visual album Lemonade, the announcement of her twins, memorable performances, record-breaking award wins, and the massive success of her Formation World Tour – 2016 and the birth of Lemonade was a moment of profundity for Yonce and her career.
It only makes sense that the women closest to her came together and honored that reality in addition to her birthday by transforming into her iconic “Formation” look. Her friends and kinfolk wished the icon “Happy birthday” in quite the show-stopping way. Among the ladies were Beyoncé’s mom Tina Knowles-Lawson, sister Solange Knowles-Ferguson, her step-sister Bianca Lawson, her daughter Blue Ivy Carter, her cousin Angie Beyince, her mother-in-law Gloria Carter, and grandma-in-law.
Other notable friends of the songstress who made an appearance to honor her day included former First Lady Michelle Obama, tennis star and “Sorry” co-star Serena Williams, former group mates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, as well as singers and young proteges Chloe x Halle. In a separate post, the latter shared a photo of Bey with her twins and captioned it, saying, “mentor, queen, mother of three… happy birthday @beyonce so much love x many blessings. we love you!!!!!”
Mama Tina also shared a message of gratitude to the world. With a photo of her with her eldest daughter at this past weekend’s Made in America festival, Tina wrote, “36 years ago God Chose me out of all the women in the world to be your mother! How blessed could i be? Not because you are a super talented, smart business woman and one of the biggest superstars! Its because you are the kindest most generous, thoughtful, intuitive, loyal, humble, funny, grounded, grateful and loving human being. I am proud to be your mom. Happy Birthday Baby! I love you with my whole heart❤️”
Happy belated Bey Day Queen Bey!
