Check Out the Full List of the 2017 MTV VMA Winners

This year’s MTV VMAs was full of powerful words and memorable performances. Whether it was Fifth Harmony’s steamy yet savage performance, Ed Sheeran and Lil Uzi Vert’s interesting “XO Tour Llif3″ mash up, Taylor Swift killing off “the old her” in the premiere of her video “Look What You Made Me Do,” or Katy Perry’s lackluster hosting skills – the MTV VMA’s never seemed to disappoint with giving viewers something to talk about.

Along with the performances, the award show also included stimulating speeches that set the political tone for the evening. From Heather Heyer’s mother Susan Bro to Paris Jackson speaking about White supremacist jerks. Rev. Robert Wright Lee IV, a 24-year-old pastor and a descendant of Confederate General Robert E. Lee also spoke out against racial injustices and the horrific events in Charlottesville.

Moon Person winner, Logic, offered an emotional performance when Khalid, Alessia Cara, and suicide attempt survivors joined him as he performed the suicide prevention track “1-800-273-8255”, bringing the audience to tears.

Like the 2017 TV & Movie awards, the VMAs has done away with gendered categories and also changed up the iconic “Moon Man” to the “Moon Person.” Many Moon People were given out Sunday night (August 27) including Kung Fu Kenny who took home Video of the Year for “Humble”, Fifth Harmony for their hit “Down”, Teyana Taylor scoring an award for her performance in Kayne West’s “Fade” and Khalid winning the coveted Best New Artist award.
