Court documents have recently surfaced showing that entertainer Usher Raymond cut a $1.1 million check in settlement money in a lawsuit issued by a woman he reportedly infected with the herpes virus.
Radar Online obtained the legal documents that detailed the relationship between Usher and the woman, who has now been identified as a bridesmaid and former friend of his ex-wife Tameka Foster, Maya Fox-Davis. The official court documents can be read in full here. Usher engaged in “rigorous unprotected sex” with Fox-Davis while knowingly infected and without telling the woman he exposed to herpes that he did in fact have herpes.
Usher was reportedly infected with herpes some time in 2009 or 2010. His divorce from Foster was finalized back in 2009. He started dealing with Fox-Davis sexually some time before that, as it was stated in court by Foster that Fox-Davis was the bridesmaid she felt Usher was sleeping with.
Although he had herpes, Usher can be labeled as an “asymptomatic carrier” and shows no signs of the infection, aside from a time where Fox-Davis described seeing “greenish discharge” leaving his penis. She expressed concern to the “Let It Burn” singer who assured her there was nothing awry and even told her of an STD test result that came back negative. So, they continued to have unprotected sex.
Davis-Fox’s lawyer added in the court documents that, “Believing Raymond’s statements that it had been nothing and cleared up, [she] continued her relationship.”
The relationship continued from thereon until about three weeks after a hookup when Davis-Fox began to experience symptoms of a “fever of 100 degrees, chills, headache, and aches and pains.”
Additionally, she “also developed lesions and blisters in her vagina.”
After a visit to urgent care, her doctor confirmed with her that she had contracted herpes. Her test also confirmed that she had acquired a first-time infection. A line in the settlement reads, “In a series of telephone conversations and online chat sessions, [Usher] has apologized for infecting [her] and told her he would take care of things.”
Usher and Fox-Davis eventually settled on December 28, 2012 and the superstar crooner gave her a total of $1.1 million on top of the $2,754.40 he provided her already to cover some of her medical bills.
