Damon Dash is trying to bring his entrepreneur moves to the health and wellness media industry. The former head honcho of Roc-A-Fella Records is working to launch the Dash Diabetes Network. The Dash Diabetes Network aims to curate and cultivate health and lifestyle content that will promote a more healthy and active lifestyle among those who watch – namely those living with diabetes. Now, Dash is giving us a first look of what to look forward to.
The 59-second trailer is a compilation of news clips and conversations that discuss and highlight diabetes and to build a support system around individuals who have diabetes. The Dash Diabetes Network will welcome actors, doctors, musicians, and everyday people to partake in a variety of different programming to promote the network’s mantra: health is wealth. Those same subjects will also have the opportunity to share their real life experiences with their health journeys and issues alike.
Altogether, the network will comprise of ten 20-minute episodes filmed in the form of talk shows, stylistically done in discussion format, with specialist interviews, as well as in cooking show format where wellness tips and recipes will be given to viewers.
Dash himself is a Type 1 Diabetic and kept it a secret from the media for years before telling CNN.com in an interview, “I don’t know if anyone knows I am diabetic – I think it’s important to let people know that it’s okay to be diabetic and to know how to take care of it.”
Dash has since vocally advocated for such organizations like the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
This is Dash’s second excursion onto television territory, with his first adventure under his media company Dame Dash Studios being the launch of The Dame Dash Show last year. Presented by top insulin company Afrezza, The Dash Diabetes Network will launch August 7.
