Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West Reportedly In Talks with Surrogate for Their 3rd Child
Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West have reportedly struck a deal with a surrogacy agency to hire a surrogate to carry their third child. TMZ has reported that due to the life-threatening condition placenta accreta, it is best that Kim refrains from becoming pregnant again. Turns out, the best course of action for the Wests is that they resort to contracting a surrogate. And that’s what the Wests intend to do.
Kim spoke about viewing surrogacy as a viable alternative to traditional pregnancy during a recent episode of her long-standing E! reality series Keeping Up With The Kardashians. The 36-year-old social media star spoke candidly to cameras, saying, “I’ve come to the conclusion in my mind that I can’t carry another one. So now I want to explore surrogacy. Kanye and I have always talked about having more kids, but after what I went through in Paris, the urgency is even greater.”
The Paris incident that Kim is referring to is another life-threatening incident where the high profile celeb was held at gunpoint in her hotel room while in Paris where she was then robbed late last year. The robbers tied her up with plastic cables and placed tape over her mouth, legs, and hands and robbed her of around $5 million of valuable items. Incidents like that definitely put the important things into perspective.
“I’m definitely leaning towards – I want to try [surrogacy],” she continued. “After talking to Kanye… I always knew surrogacy was an option, now it’s my reality. Whatever is meant to be will be.”
By the looks of it, surrogacy is now in full effect for the Wests. The pair found their surrogate through an agency and, according to reports, have an agreement to pay $45,000 in 10 monthly installments, an extra $5,000 for every additional kid the surrogate carries, and $4,000 if the surrogate happens to lose any reproductive organs during the process.
The agency the power couple used also required the Wests to pay a deposit of $68,850.
As expected from any surrogate, the Wests’ surrogate must refrain from smoking, recreational drug use, and drinking throughout the duration of the pregnancy. She must also refrain from sexual activity in the weeks preceding the pregnancy, as well as for at minimum three weeks following implantation of the embryo.
She must also forgo usage of saunas, hot tub, changing or handling cat litter, applying hair dye, drinking more than one beverage with caffeine a day, and eating raw fish.
Lastly, the agreement also states that Kanye and Kim “assume the legal and parental responsibilities for any child… that may possess any congenital or other abnormalities or defects.”
Kim and Kanye are already parents to two children, North West, 4, and Saint West, 1.
