Karrueche Tran Gets Five-Year Restraining Order against Former Flame Chris Brown Granted

And just like that, the script is flipped. Although about a week ago, it was reported that a judge had dismissed actress and model Karrueche Tran’s request to extend her permanent restraining order due to a failure to appear in court – Tran is now able to sing a different tune. As of yesterday (June 15), a judge ruled in her favor and granted her a five-year restraining order against her ex R&B singer Chris Brown.

There was some speculation going around that the order had been dropped and Brown seemed to confirm that when he made light of the situation in the media. However, Tran’s manager seemed to insist that Tran requested a new court date due to the fact that she would not be able to appear. Looks like her side was right.

The date did ensue, as well as the in-person testimony, and Brown was nowhere to be found. Though he did have his attorney, David Gammill present.

The 29-year-old was present to give an in-person testimony where she accounted for details of her estranged relationship with Brown, particularly his threatening demands. TMZ reports that Tran and Brown were tumultuous almost immediately after their 2010 split, following her discovery of Brown’s baby with another woman via news reports.

During her testimony, Tran testified that Brown was very demanding, especially in regards to the diamond rings he had purchased for her. He wanted gifted items returned to him. When she refused, Brown couldn’t take it and became increasingly aggressive with the Claws actress.

Post-breakup text messages can attest to how aggressive Brown could be. Tran testified that Brown would send her messages saying things like, “I’m not being nice to you no more, if I see you out in public again and I’m there I will make you hate me even more, don’t be anywhere I’m out in public, I’m going to ban you from all events.”

According to TMZ, some of Brown’s more violent threats included a message that read, “I can get my money back and I’m tired of playing games” to “B*tch I will be the sh*t out of you,” and “I promise you I will make your life hell.” Another alarming incident included her retelling of Brown writing “Imma kill blood” underneath a photo she posted of her with actor Michael B. Jordan.

Tran also stated and testified that she was indeed beaten in the past by Brown, who now has a history of abuse.

On behalf of Brown, his attorney Gammill, did his job and grilled Tran during his cross-examination. He told her that she would allegedly play games with Brown about things like her rings, telling him that she sold them. Tran explained that she never had any plans to return rings to Brown post-breakup because they were her property. Gammill also countered the fact that Tran never seemed pressed to report the alleged behavior about Brown to authorities. And?

Tran insisted that the request for a restraining order was for her protection because she feared for her life and safety. Her request for a permanent restraining order might have been denied, but at least this one will give her some peace of mind for the next five years.
