Former NFL Star Bryant McKinnie to Join ‘Love and Hip Hop: Miami’

The Love and Hip Hop franchise is headed to Miami, and joining the cast will be none other than ex-Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie.

McKinnie will be the first athlete to join the cast in the history of the franchise, as TMZ reports. Although the rest of the cast has not been revealed, sources close to the production team told TMZ that McKinnie has been shooting with Love and Hip Hop Miami for a couple of months, and “will be a fixture on the new show[‘s] next season.”

However, the news of McKinnie’s appearance on Love and Hip Hop isn’t a surprise for some, as it has been stated that the ex-NFL star is a Grammy-winning music producer. According to Miami.com, McKinnie received a Grammy for Pleasure P’s solo debut album The Introduction of Marcus Cooper and is currently working on Lil Kim’s fifth album Season.

Back in 2016, the Hip Hop heavyweight shared her thoughts with TMZ about working with McKinnie. “I respect Bryant’s energy and input. When I really started to listen to him I realized that he really knows music and gives you nothing but real talk when you ask his opinions,” she said to the gossip site. “It’s always the turn up with him when I’m in Miami, we actually met at the club and a lot of that type of energy is what I want on this new album, he knows that.”

The New Jersey native got his start playing football for Woodbury High School before being twice recognized as an All-American at the University of Miami. After being drafted in 2002 to the Minnesota Vikings, McKinnie continued to play until 2011, when he then played for the Baltimore Ravens and ultimately ended his football career playing for the Miami Dolphins.

McKinnie is the first cast member that has been reported to star in the new show. Although it has been rumored that Trick Daddy and Trina will join the cast, VH1 has not confirmed. One thing’s for certain, it’ll be interesting to see who will be McKinnie’s love interest…
