T.I. And Tiny Harris Are Moving Forward With Divorce Proceedings
The fate of T.I. and Tiny’s marriage seems more than sealed now that the divorce papers have officially been served. What might feel like déjà vu really isn’t, as news broke that Tiny served her husband of six years with divorce papers earlier this week. Although there was some talk that the couple might reconcile despite their divorce filing this past December, E! News exclusively reports that Tameka “Tiny” Cottle-Harris served the Atlanta rapper with new divorce papers last week.
T.I. responded to the papers served by filing his acknowledgement of the service on Monday (April 24).
T.I. and Tiny have been in the center of a whirlwind of relationship drama, beginning with T.I.’s beef with boxer Floyd Mayweather over Tiny. Although it has been alleged that the rapper has had a history of infidelity despite the couple’s lengthy relationship, he was livid when talks of Mayweather taking Tiny out came about. And very vocal about it all.
Their marriage didn’t survive the year and news of their decision to divorce came when papers were initially filed in December. Just this month, the couple have also been in the media due to an Instagram beef that happened between Tiny and T.I.’s alleged new love interest/side chick, IG model Bernice Burgos.
T.I. responded to the beef while at an April 12 on-air sit-down interview with Angie Martinez. “I’m a man. That’s women’s business. [It] ain’t got nothing to do with me.”
In the same interview, he later went on to say a very controversial statement in reference to his 6-year marriage and 16-year relationship:
“It seems to me that marriage and what marriage means and what marriage does — it’s just one of those things that’s going to distract me and deter me. And that could be selfish, but ultimately, I’m the patriarch of this family. And it’s my responsibility to take us onward and upward.”
About a week ago, Tiny made an appearance with her daughter Zonnique on The Wendy Williams Show. There, she briefly discussed why she believed her and T.I.’s marriage could not be saved:
“We just cannot keep it together. I guess it’s just the entertainment life and everything. It’s just a lot. It is a fast life.”
On the show, Tiny also suggested that a lot of their issues seemed to develop from a strain caused by their VH1 reality show, T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle. She filed for a divorce on December 26. Together, the former couple have three kids: King, Major, and Heiress Harris.
The final season of T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle is currently airing its final season Mondays at 9/8c on VH1.
