As of today (April 26), Marshawn Lynch is officially a member of the Oakland Raiders! The news comes broke based on an official announcement made by the team who were in talks with the Seattle Seahawks to acquire Lynch. This is excellent news for huge Marshawn Lynch fans who might have been disappointed when the long-time Seahawks Running Back first told the world of his intentions to retire after Super Bowl 50. Luckily, his retirement turned out to be very short-lived. After sitting out of an NFL season, Lynch is back and in business.

Although in retirement, Lynch was still tied to the Seahawks by contract. Behind the scenes, Lynch and the Raiders were negotiating an agreement that allowed him to come out retirement to play for his home team of Oakland with the Raiders. The Seahawks agreed to give the Raiders Lynch in exchange for a swap of 2018 late-round picks. The Raiders will give the Seahawks their fifth-round pick in exchange for Lynch and the Seahawk’s sixth-round pick. After negotiations were made and met, the only thing stopping the trading process was the green light from Lynch’s physical. After passing that this morning (April 26), the deal was sealed and Lynch was officially a Raider.

Lynch has a contract for the 2017 season that will pay a base of $3 million, with the opportunity to make an addition two mil for every 1,000 yards he gains. The contract will not exceed the amount of $8.5 million.

According to the NFL.com, Lynch’s return from retirement has been speculation for months, especially after Lynch met with the Raiders earlier this month on April 5. Lynch “expressed his desire to play for them. He told them he only wants to play for his hometown team in what amounted to a recruiting visit.”

Marshawn Lynch will no doubt show Oakland Raider fans what it’s like to have Beast Mode as your Running Back.
