Destiny’s Child had a reunion of a different kind over the weekend as the former key members of the trio, Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams, came together to show support for one of their own. The reunion took place in Los Angeles and was in honor of the release of Kelly’s new book, Whoa, Baby! A Guide for New Moms Who Feel Overwhelmed and Freaked Out (and Wonder What the #*$& Just Happened).
The book is a baby guide for new moms out there who might just feel like they are just winging it and don’t really know what to do while navigating through the confusing waters of new motherhood. Kelly started writing the book shortly after the birth of her son, Titan, in 2014.
Kelly Rowland is carving out her own journey as an industry multihyphenate, and is in the midst of a career resurgence. According to a feature done with the Australian publication Sunday Life Magazine, Rowland will be a judge on the new season of The Voice in Australia, promoting the all-girl R&B group she helped find, June’s Diary, launching a line of cosmetic products, and writing her new album. This is all in addition to her recently published baby guide, Whoa, Baby! that she is promoting.
In the feature article, the 20-year entertainment industry vet let us in on the best career advice she had ever received, “Outwork everybody. So many people want the same thing or have the same dream you do, and what separates you from everybody else is your work ethic. There’s always room to work harder.”
The 36-year-old also allows readers to see another side of her as she talks candidly about her arduous journey to self-acceptance, the importance of women empowerment, what it means to balance motherhood and her many careers, and how Tina Knowles taught her self-confidence.
