Looks like there’s another dance challenge on the rise! French Montana has sparked the latest challenge taking over social media with his new single “Unforgettable” featuring Swae Lee.
The “Lockjaw” rapper kicked off the challenge earlier this month when he teamed up with Travis Scott to show off their moves on Instagram with #UnforgettableChallenge as the caption. As his celebrity friends began to take notice of the new dance craze, the Instagram post prompted fans to take part of the challenge. Fans created their own versions of the dance and started tagging Montana with hopes to be shared on his Instagram page. According to Billboard, in a matter of days, even fans from Germany and Italy took a crack at the #UnforgettableChallenge.
Montana released the official for the video last week, which was inspired by his adoration for Uganda’s Triplets Ghetto Kids, prompting the New York native to shoot the “Unforgettable” video in Uganda. In a recent interview with Billboard, Montana explained how he came across the Ugandan dance stars and how it sparked the video concept.
“I was on the computer going through it, and I ran across these kids. I was a fan and I felt like I saw me in them, ’cause I grew up in Africa when I was their age. I was doing the same thing they were doing. In my head, I was playing ‘Unforgettable’,” Montana said to Billboard. “They were just dancing and I fell in love with it and said, ‘I gotta find these kids.’ It was something new, it was a breath of fresh air. With having gone through living in poverty and being happy with nothing, they channel that through their dance moves and their energy. Them having no TVs and just learning how to dance, it just makes them have their own moves and their own swagger.”
