Kendrick Lamar Confirms Title and Tracklist Ahead of the Release of His Forthcoming Album

Kendrick Lamar fans stand up! The Compton rapper has social media and news outlets in a tizzy as we await the April 14 release of his long-awaited forthcoming album. So far, we’ve heard “Heart Part IV” and the drop of the album’s first official single “HUMBLE.” gained Lamar early success. Thanks to “HUMBLE.”, the artist has now scored his highest-charting single as a lead artist as the song debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. To say his fans are excited for more from Lamar is an understatement. This morning (April 11), Lamar released the title and tracklist of his new album via Twitter.

DAMN., which is noticeably stylized like the first single’s title “HUMBLE.”, will be a 14-track project with songs mostly led by K.Dot as a solo dolo act. He has three guest features on the album, with contributions from Rihanna on the track “LOYALTY.”, Zacari on “LOVE.”, and U2 on “XXX.”.

The tracklist in full is listed below:

1. “BLOOD.”
2. “DNA.”
3. “YAH.”
4. “ELEMENT.”
5. “FEEL.”
6. “LOYALTY.” ft. Rihanna
7. “PRIDE.”
8. “HUMBLE.”
9. “LUST.”
10. “LOVE.” ft. Zacari
11. “XXX.” ft. U2
12. “FEAR.”
13. “GOD.”
14. “DUCKWORTH.”

Lamar has previously given us some insight of what this album will center around thematically and has emphasized God and religion as themes he wants to explore. Looking at some of these track titles, the religious element can definitely be felt. In their names, themes like humble versus pride, lust versus love, fear versus love, fear versus God, and love as God show that religion, or at the very least, spirituality is ever-present in the curation and cultivation of the project. Artistically, I can see where Lamar is headed.

Thankfully, we’ll able to put the music to their names once streaming for DAMN. becomes available April 14. Friday (April 14) will surely be a day for King Kendrick.
