#BlackGirlMagic: New Jersey Teen Accepted to All Eight Ivy League Schools

Around this time every year, many high school seniors are biting their nails in hopes of getting accepted to their college of choice. But, one teen from New Jersey has to make the difficult decision of choosing between eight Ivy League schools. Yup, you heard that right! Ifeoma White-Thorpe, a high school senior at Morris Hills High School in Rockaway, New Jersey, was accepted into all eight Ivy League schools.

“I was shaking, I was like, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, like this might be eight out of eight and I clicked it and it said ‘Congratulations’ and I was like oh my goodness and then I was like, what did I say?” Ifeoma said to WABC.

White-Thorpe now has to choose between Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Columbia, UPenn, Princeton, Dartmouth, Brown… and Stanford University (which is not an Ivy League but is known as an elite university). “I got into Harvard early action so I figured I’ll just go there, so then I got into all the others and I was like, wait now I don’t know where I want to go,” she said to WABC.

Andre and Patricia White-Thorpe, Ifeoma’s parents, say they will not meddle in her decision, saying, “We’re leaving it up to her.”

Ifeoma wants to study biology and pursue a career in global health. She decided to apply to all of the schools because they “have great research facilities.” Although the gifted teen is undecided, wherever she decides to go, she will be on the right path to success.
