Janelle Monae, Aja Naomi King, Lupita Nyong’o and Ruth Negga Cover ‘Vanity Fair’

Vanity Fair Janelle Monae LupitaVanity Fair seems to be trying to correct the diversity issue that they’ve been called out for in the past. The magazine featured four women of color among the talent on the cover of their annual Hollywood issue.

The magazine has been put on blast in the past for their Hollywood covers having a severe lack of diversity, usually featuring only one or two actors of color, if that. This year 4 of the 11 women featured in the issue are black or mixed race- Janelle Monae, Aja Naomi King, Lupita Nyong’o and Ruth Negga. According to the magazine, all women were chosen for their “stellar contributions to film in 2017.”

Joining the talented four black women featured are Natalie Portman, Amy Adams, Emma Stone, Elle Fanning, Dakota Fanning, Dakota Johnson and Greta Gerwig:

The Hollywood Issue of Vanity Fair is available on newsstands in New York and Los Angeles, and on the iPhone, Kindle, and other devices, on Thursday, February 2, and nationally on Tuesday, February 7.
