Representative Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) had no qualms when it came to expressing her feelings on the president-elect and whether or not she’d be participating in his inaugural activities.
The representative for California’s 43rd Congressional District spoke with MSNBC’s Tamron Hall about her distaste for Donald Trump, citing many of the controversies that followed him during his presidential campaign. When asked whether or not she’d be attending the upcoming inauguration, Waters made her stance clear.
“Well let me just tell you, after I discovered who Trump is in the way that he conducted himself, I was never going to go to the inauguration,” Waters said. “I never planned, I never contemplated even going near any of those activities or those events. I don’t like the way he has mislead people, the way he has lied. I don’t like the way he has disparaged folks. I don’t like the way he mimicked and mocked a disabled man. I don’t like the way he talked about women and grabbing their private parts. There’s nothing about him, that I would want to be involved with.”
Rep. Waters closed with a few definitive statements that leave no room for misinterpretation when it comes to her feelings about the president-elect. “I don’t honor him. I don’t respect him and I don’t want to be involved with him.”
