The 2017 Golden Globes were a huge success in terms of diversity- Viola Davis, Donald Glover, Moonlight and more took home big awards from the ceremony.
Davis landed the title of Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture thanks to her outstanding performance in Fences- making this her first win out of 5 nominations! Donald Glover and the cast of Atlanta were pleasantly surprised with a win in the category of Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy. Tracee Ellis Ross also picked up her first Golden Globe for her role in Black-ish, making her the first black woman to take home the title since Debbie Allen’s Fame win back in 1983. Moonlight, which has been sweeping up all kinds of award nominations, took home the globe for Best Motion Picture, Drama, beating out Manchester By The Sea, Hacksaw Ridge, Lion and Hell or High Water.
