Beyonce’s Formation World Tour wrapped earlier this month at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey after a record breaking seven month run and it’s safe to say her pockets got significantly fatter as a result.
The 40 stop tour sold 2.2 million tickets and earned a whopping $256 million. The highest grossing stops on the Blockbuster Tour were her two sold out shows at London’s Wembley Stadium July 2-3 that took in $15.3 million and sold 142,500 tickets. The highest grossing stops on the North American leg were the two sellout nights at New York’s City’s Citi Field that took in $11.5 million and moved 73,486 tickets.
The Beyhive came out in swarms, selling out most stops on the tour and using social media to document what many referred to as an unforgettable experience. DJ Khaled opened for Bey on the first leg of the tour but Beyonce carried the second leg on her own.
The tour received rave reviews from both critics and fans for it’s impressive production and Beyonce’s ability to deliver at every show. Tour promoter Arthur Fogel told Billboard that while the production of the show deserved praise, Beyonce’s ability to blow crowds away with her performance made the tour unforgettable. “When everybody acknowledges the greatness of the production but, more than that, everybody is blown away by her, that’s the ultimately skill,” Fogel said. “To not only use the platform of a great production, but to rise above it as a performer and artist, that’s her incredibly unique quality.”
