A Spike Lee classic is about to get the Netflix treatment-the streaming network has placed a series order for a contemporary update of Lee’s She’s Gotta Have It.
The original 1986 film marked Lee’s first feature length film and starred Tracy Camilla Johns as Nola Darling, a Brooklyn-based artist in her late twenties struggling to define herself and divide her time amongst her Friends, her Job and her Three Lovers: The Cultured Model, Greer Childs ((John Canada Terrell in the film), The Protective Investment Banker, Jamie Overstreet (Tommy Redmond Hicks) and Da Original B-Boy Sneakerhead, Mars Blackmon (Spike Lee).
Lee has signed on to direct all 10 episodes of the first season, serving as creator and executive producer alongside his wife, Tonya Lewis Lee.

Netflix and Spike Lee’s She’s Gotta Have It will star Hamilton’s Anthony Ramos and is currently casting for a wide array of roles.
