With a number one album, successful tour and two Grammy’s under his belt, R&B sensation The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, is sharing the wealth.
The 26-year-old recently donated $250,000 to the Black Lives Matter Movement, according to the New York Daily News.
This announcement comes just days after he donated $50,000 to The University of Toronto for a new Ethiopian Studies Program. “Sharing our brilliant and ancient history of Ethiopia. proud to support the studies in our homie town,” he tweeted.

While he may not be as vocal about his support of the BLM as other celebrities, he has tweeted his support for the organization in the past. “Enough is enough. It’s time to stand up for this. We can either sit and watch, or do something about it. The time is now. #blacklivesmatter,” he tweeted.
