A number one album and world tour isn’t slowing Rihanna down.
According to Deadline, the 28-year-old singer will join Anne Hathaway, Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter and Mindy Kaling for Ocean’s Eight, an all-female reboot of Ocean’s Eleven.
While the newest installment in the iconic Oceans franchise sticks to the same formula as its predecessors, the all female cast is sure to give us some new perspective. The film will be directed by Gary Ross and produced by Steven Soderbergh. In fact, Soderbergh directed all three movies in the trilogy (Ocean’s Eleven, Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen) which starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, and the late Bernie Mac.
Production for the film is scheduled to start in October in New York.
While Oceans Eight is sure to be Rihanna’s biggest role to date, the singer is also set to star in Luc Besson’s Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets next year along with Cara Delevingne, Ethan Hawke, John Goodman, and Clive Owen, as well as appearing in the final season of Bates Motel as Marion Crane.
Ri Ri’s previous acting credits include 2012’s Battleship and the 2015 animated film Home.
