Carpool Karaoke took over the White House on Wednesday night when Michelle Obama joined Late Late Show host James Corden for a tour of the White House.
The pair cruised around 1600 Pennsylvania Ave (with secret service not far behind, I’m sure), rocking out to some Beyonce and the First Lady’s favorite artist, Stevie Wonder. “I love Stevie Wonder. I think I know every Stevie song on the planet,” said Mrs. Obama. “That was the only time in seven-and-a-half years that I’ve been in the passenger seat listening to music, rocking out like this. So this is a treat.”
In between songs, Obama and Corden chatted about Snapchat, life after the White House and Obama’s girls’ education initiative. The thing she’ll miss most about White House life, she said, will be having to “walk away from people you see every day.”
While watching the fabulous FLOTUS let loose was amazing enough, the highlight of the segment came when Missy Elliott joined them for their collaboration “This Is for My Girls,” which was recorded in support of the Let Girls Learn initiative and the White House’s #62MillionGirls campaign. Missy randomly popped up in the back seat and spit her verse on the anthem as well as her iconic hit, “Get Ur Freak On”-and the First Lady rapped along to every word.
Sorry Bey, it appears that Mrs. Obama has taken the crown.
