The VH1 Hip Hop Honors honored the queens of hip-hop and in a show filled with amazing tributes, one stood above the rest as the most memorable thanks to Teyana Taylor.
The event honored the hip-hop’s lady legends- Lil Kim, Queen Latifah, Missy Elliott and Salt-N-Pepa- and tapped a ton of hot talent to perform the ladies’ biggest hits for them. Taylor was chosen to head up Lil Kim’s tribute and she pulled out ALL the stops, stealing the show in the process.
Before Taylor wowed the audience in one of Kim’s most iconic looks ever, Lil Mama and Dej Loaf (also dressed as the Queen Bee) took to the stage to give an energetic performance of “No Time” as a duo. Then came Teyana, continuing the song and bringing out French Montana and The Lox to join her onstage during Diddy’s hook. As if that weren’t enough to put some respeck on her name, Teyana came back out, with a new Lil Kim inspired wig and costume, and proceeded to rock the “All About the Benjamins” tribute (she rocked it so hard, in fact, he wig stayed on the stage long after she left).
The 25-year-old singer admits she was super-nervous about the performance, but did all that she could to prepare in 2 days. “48 hours to get prepared after hearing I was doing the tribute while on baecation,” she shared on social media. “I went completely into my Kim bag in the mirror all day long. Eat, sleep, think Kim. STUDIED, appreciated her era!”
She also made sure to thank the Queen Bee for believing in her. “Thank you @lilkimthequeenbee for your inspiration, choosing me, believing in me and for knocking down the door for other young women that dream big.”
Tey made sure to get her head in the game from the moment she set foot at the event, changing into different notable Lil Kim looks throughout the evening.

Another highlight of the show was when Rich Homie Quan forgot lyrics to his song- and you know the internet hasn’t let that go yet. If you want your daily dose of hilarity, just check out some of the memes about the flub that are out there.
