The First Teaser for Donald Glover’s ‘Atlanta’ Is Here

FX has released the first look at Atlanta, the latest project coming from the unique and brilliant mind of Donald Glover.

The series revolves around two cousins, Earnest ‘Earn’ Marks (Glover) and Alfred Miles (Brian Tyree Henry), on their way up through the Atlanta rap scene. First announced in 2014, Atlanta is set to premiere on FX this fall and fans of Glover’s are definitely ready to see what he’s been up to. The series’ pilot was directed by Hiro Murai, whose resume includes directing videos for Childish Gambino’s Sober, Chet Faker’s Gold and Earl Sweatshirt’s Chum. He has also served as a cinematographer on the television series Drunk History and Funny or Die Presents… .

In the first teaser, Donald and his two co-stars (Straight Outta Compton‘s Lakeith Lee Stanfield also stars) walk forward through the streets of Atlanta while everyone around them seems to be moving backward.

The actor previewed the show during this year’s Television Critics Association (TCA), telling attendees,“The tone is everything. Television shows are like novels now. You’ve just got to invest in them. So… I feel like the tone of this is… going to take time for people to understand what’s going on, which I think is a good thing,” he said, adding, “I just wanted to make Twin Peaks with rappers.”
