Nick Cannon Refuses to Sign Divorce Papers
Over a year after they decided to go their separate ways, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are technically still married.
While the couple began divorce proceedings civilly by agreeing to joint custody of their twins, Moroccan and Monroe, and even agreeing on a property settlement, Cannon, 35, is refusing to sign the divorce papers, according to TMZ. He initially filed for divorce from his wife of six years back in December of 2014.
Insiders claim that Cannon won’t sign the docs because he doesn’t want to let go of his ex-wife and because he doesn’t want her to marry her fiancé, billionaire James Packer.
Carey, 46, met Packer, 48, shortly after separating from Cannon. The pair became engaged this past January.
Rumors swirled about a falling-out back in March when Nick released a rap track, “Oh Well”, that appeared to be a scathing attack on his ex. In the song, Nick raps that his “relationship was a lie” and that “she didn’t like me when I was broke, but she missed the old me….if I went broke, you wouldn’t call me”.
Cannon and Carey got married in 2008. They have two children, Roc and Roe, who are now 5.
