Now that the cat’s out of the bag about Kerry Washington’s pregnancy, ABC has announced that the Scandal‘s upcoming season will be moved to the 2016-2017 midseason schedule, presumably accommodate their star.
The show has been pulled from the fall schedule to give Kerry Washington time off to give birth and rest before she comes back to work. What this means for the network is that the highly advertised Shonda Rhimes programming block, or TGIT, is off the table…for now. While Shondaland shows Grey’s Anatomy and How to Get Away with Murder will keep their usual 8pm and 10pm Thursday night time slots, new series Notorious will fill in during Scandal‘s 9pm slot. Fans shouldn’t worry, however, the show will return in 2017.
Washington still hasn’t confirmed her pregnancy yet, but her bump was on full display when she recently attended the 2016 Met Gala.
The rumors began when her Scandal co-star Tony Goldwyn posted a photo of Kerry striking a bump-cradling pose while taking a pic with the cast.
