Marvel’s upcoming Black Panther film is shaping up to be one of the franchises most highly anticipated films and the casting does nothing but add to the buzz.
Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther definitely stole the show in the most recent Marvel film to be released, Captain America: Civil War, but it looks like the film that will center around the Wakandan King and warrior is aiming the steal the show from every Marvel movie that’s been released so far. Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station, Creed) was previously announced as the film’s director and now Lupita Nyong’o and Michael B. Jordan are set to join him on the project.
Jordan’s addition to the cast is welcome, but doesn’t come as much of a surprise- he starred in both of Coogler’s feature films. This time, however, it seems that Jordan may be trying his hand at being the bad guy, with a source telling The Hollywood Reporter that Jordan’s role “could be a villain.”
Nyong’o will also star in the film, but like Jordan, no details about her character have been released. Fans have speculated that the Academy Award winner could play a number of characters from Black Panther’s best known love interest Monica Lynne, to the well-known member of the Dora Milaje, Okoye.
Black Panther is set to hit theaters on Feb. 16, 2018.
