Michael Strahan is making his part-time gig at Good Morning America his new full-time gig.
The star is leaving Live, where he’s been co-hosting alongside Kelly Ripa since 2012, to take on a more permanent position at GMA.
“I look forward to continuing to work with the incredible team at GMA. It is an exciting opportunity to be able to bring unique stories and voices to the audience,” said Strahan in a statement.
He added, “My time with LIVE with Kelly and Michael has been transformative, and my departure will be bittersweet. Kelly has been an unbelievable partner, and I am so thankful to her and the entire team. I am extremely grateful for the amazing support I’ve received from all of the fans.”
GMA‘s co-hosts have already taken to social media to welcome the newest addition to the staff:

Strahan begins his new full-time position with Good Morning America this fall.
