Michael Ealy is stepping into the role of executive producer for a remake of the classic film, Jacob’s Ladder.
Ebony.com broke the news reporting that Jesse Williams will star in the film, which is a joint production between LD Entertainment, Gaeta/Rosenzweig Films and Will Packer Productions.
Jacob’s Ladder is a 1990 psychological horror that starred Tim Robbins, Elizabeth Peña and Danny Aiello. It followed the story of a Vietnam veteran who must get to the bottom of his bizarre flashbacks and hallucinations before they drive him insane…or worse.
“Jacob’s Ladder is a cult classic, and we haven’t seen anything like it on screen since it’s release—and we certainly haven’t seen characters that look like us at the center of a modern psychological thriller,” Williams told Ebony about the remake.
Williams, who is currently working on a Harry Belafonte biopic, is excited about bringing the story to life for a new generation. “I’m exciting about this material and bringing it to life with Will, David and the entire team.”
Former Sleepy Hollow star Nicole Beharie has also signed on to star in the remake.
Filming on the project will reportedly begin next month.
