The holidays usually bring out equal parts love and dysfunction in families, but Almost Christmas aims to take the level of family dysfunction to entirely new heights.
The new comedy from writer/director David E. Talbert (Baggage Claim) and producer Will Packer (Ride Along, Think Like a Man series, This Christmas), follows a family that gathers together to celebrate their first bittersweet Christmas without their matriarch. It’s the classic tale of vastly different personalities within a family coming together to try and share a holiday without killing one another, and judging from the newly released teaser, that task may prove impossible.
In the teaser, you get a feel for the family dynamic in a scene when Mo’Nique’s character (who is obviously successful and slightly bougie) makes the family “milk tea with tapioca balls” and everyone else opts for pizza instead.
In addition to Mo’Nique, the cast includes a slew of familiar faces that are sure to make the film hilariously heartwarming, including: Kimberly Elise, Omar Epps, Danny Glover, Romany Malco, Nicole Ari Parker, J.B. Smoove, Gabrielle Union and more.
