Just when we thought the whole “Jumpman” craze was dying town, in comes Taylor Swift to resurrect the song and pad Drake and Future’s wallets in the process.
The hysterical Apple Music commercial that features a confident Taylor Swift running (and face-planting) to the tune of “Jumpman” helped the track’s sales rise 431 percent globally, according to AdWeek.
While Drake and Future are definitely reaping the benefits of the ad, Apple Music came out the real winner. Their #GymFlow playlist, featured in the “Taylor vs. Treadmill” spot, grew 325 percent, and it is now the No. 5 playlist of the week on Apple Music.
Overall, the video’s been viewed 37 million times, and Swift’s tweet with the video has racked up 66,960 retweets and 119,000 likes. Swift’s social media presence played a huge part in the company’s decision to cast Swift in the ad. “With an artist that’s got 73 million followers on Instagram, that’s bigger than NBC, CBS and Fox and the viewership of prime time combined,” Larry Jackson, Apple Music’s head of content, told Adweek.
Apple Music also plans to launch additional campaigns with other artists in the following months, as part of the company’s plan to compete with Spotify, Pandora and other music-streaming services.
