Will Smith to Star in Netflix Original Movie

Netflix is bringing in the big guns for its next movie project.

The video streaming giant has purchased the rights for Bright, starring Will Smith and Joel Edgerton, written by screenwriter Max Landis and directed by David Ayer.

Little is known about the film, which was reportedly one of the hottest projects being shopped around in Hollywood before landing at Netflix, except that it is “in the vein of End of Watch (which was directed by Ayer) but set in a world where Orcs and fairies live among humans. Sources also say the story is not set in present day,” according to Variety.

So what’s the price tag for a highly anticipated project like this run? Well, Netflix reportedly dropped $3 million for the script and will spend a reported $90 million on the entire project.

Smith and Ayer most recently worked together on the much talked about upcoming film Suicide Squad, in which Smith stars as Deadshot. It’s not currently known when work on the project will begin, but Netflix hopes to begin this year in the event that both the actor and director have to film a Suicide Squad sequel in 2017.
