Rihanna is set to be honored at BET’s Black Girls Rock event next month.
The 28-year-old, who just kicked off her “ANTI World Tour,” will receive the Rock Star Award at the annual event honoring black women.
The award will celebrate her many accomplishments as musician and influential African American woman. This year’s honorees also include singer Gladys Knight, writer-producer Shonda Rhimes, “Walking Dead” star and playwright Danai Gurira, and actress Amandla Stenberg.
Tracee Ellis Ross is scheduled to host the award show which will take place on April 1 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark and will be televised on April 5.
Rihanna’s highly anticipated album, “ANTI,” was released last month and the first single off the album, “Work” ft. Drake has dominated the number one spot on the Billboard charts for the past four weeks.
“Black Girls Rock!” is an annual celebration of black women which hopes to “change the world by empowering black girls to lead, innovate, and serve,” according to the non-profit organization’s website.
