It’s been 12 years since the last visit to Calvin’s barbershop, but now it’s back to business and the whole family will be there. The first official trailer for the highly-anticipated film, Barbershop: The Next Cut, has arrived and it looks like the comedy sequel will bring plenty of laughs.
The sequel reunites Ice Cube, Cedric the Entertainer, Eve, and Sean Patrick Thomas, while adding a few new, but familiar, faces to the crew, including Common, Regina Hall and Nicki Minaj.
The Barbershop franchise is known for the comedy aspect, but for this installment, the story line is more than just jokes. It also addresses the increasing presence of guns and gang violence on the streets of Chicago.
The film is directed by Malcolm D. Lee (The Best Man Holiday, Scary Movie 5, Soul Men) with a script from Black-ish series creator Kenya Barris (who also wrote on The Game and the Are We There Yet? TV series) and Tracy Oliver.
Barbershop: The Next Cut is set to hit theaters on April 15 of next year.
