Kerry Washington is stepping behind the camera with her Scandal costar Katie Lowes for a new Shondaland project, according to Variety.
The Scandal stars have been tapped as executive producers of the untitled dramedy centered around a clique of young nannies. The series, which is currently in development at ABC, is described as “an edgy and comical upstairs-downstairs look at the insanity of modern child-rearing, focusing on the group of nannies, a trio of interconnected families and their various support staffs, all trying to help the kids grow up when they haven’t yet quite grown up themselves.”
Actress and writer Bess Wohl will pen the script and serve as an executive producer alongside Washington, Lowes, Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers and Adam Shapiro.
This project is only one of the many upcoming projects hemmed by Shonda Rhimes. It was also announced this week that Rhimes will serve as the producer for a new series titled Still Star-Crossed, a drama that chronicles the aftermath of Romeo and Juliet’s deaths by suicide. In addition, other projects in the works include a Catholic nun drama, a suburban singles comedy and a Baghdad-set military drama project. All of the potential series are at ABC where current Shondaland hits Grey’s Anatomy, How To Get Away with Murder and Scandal are on air.
