Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez File for Divorce
Halle Berry and husband Olivier Martinez have called it quits after two years of marriage.
“It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce,” the actors told CNN in a joint statement. “We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus of what is best for our son. We wish each other nothing but happiness in life and we hope that you respect our and, most importantly, our children’s privacy as we go through this difficult period.”
Berry filed for divorce on Tuesday (Oct.27) under the alias Hal Maria and cited irreconcilable differences. Martinez continued with has own divorce documents and reportedly requested joint custody of their son.
The announcement comes as a surprise as the couple appeared very together and happy just days before as they took their two-year-old son Maceo to a Halloween party in Sherman Oaks, CA on Saturday (Oct. 17).
The couple welcomed their baby boy, Maceo, in October 2013 and wed in an intimate France ceremony nine months later.
This will be Berry’s third divorce. She was married to former baseball pro David Justice from to 1993 to 1996, and ended her four-year marriage to R&B singer Eric Benet in 2005. She shares 7-year-old daughter, Nahla, with ex-boyfriend, model Gabriel Aubry.
